Beschreibung

A young woman raised on Gothic novels enters Bath society and mistakes ordinary selfishness for deliciously dark danger.

Celebrate Jane Austen's 250th birthday with this beautiful gift edition of Northanger Abbey, complete with foiled covers, marbled endpaper, sprayed edges, beautiful paper and a silk ribbon.

Catherine Morland loves sensational Gothic novels, which make Bath society and a visit to Northanger Abbey feel rich with possible horrors. Her imagination, innocence and longing for adventure lead her to comic mistakes, false friendships and embarrassing suspicions. Henry Tilney may understand her better than anyone, but his father's ambitions soon threaten their happiness.

Austen's sharp, affectionate satire of Gothic fiction is also a sparkling coming-of-age romance about reading, naivety, money and self-knowledge. This Vintage Collector's Classics hardback is a beautiful gift for Austen readers, classic fiction collectors and fans of witty Regency novels.
