The study examines the primary educational system of Nepal with the main focus on the implementation of language-in-education policy in the actual classroom. Though several educational policy documents including the Interim Constitution of Nepal (2007) have given the right to use the learners' mother tongue in the primary schools, the study unveils that there is the inconsistency between policy and practice.
