Using materials such as mirrors, black light, neon tubes and glass bottles, Brigitte Kowanz has created objects and spatial artworks in which she stages light. What is light? is the central question of her oeuvre. Light is what we see is the artists answer. Light helps us to see: it makes everything visible, yet remains invisible itself. Brigitte Kowanz engages with this paradox in her light-based art.
